S.K.A.T.E. SAFE Course

In this course, we’ll walk you through the concept of S.K.A.T.E. SAFE in an interactive, informative, and engaging way. 

The S.K.A.T.E. SAFE course is available to all USSEA members and is a prerequisite for Certification. 

What You Will Learn:

  • How to maximize environmental awareness in skateparks and when around other skateboarders
  • The safer and proper progression to minimize injury and spend less time recovering from injuries, and more time skateboarding!
  • Great communication skills and earning respect at a skatepark

Embracing the S.K.A.T.E. SAFE model will provide you with the framework needed to advance your skills to the highest levels.

How to Teach Skateboarding

The How To Teach Skateboarding course is for professional skateboard educators, parents, and any individual interested in learning to teach skateboarding to support beginners. 

The course is available to all USSEA members and is a prerequisite for Certification. 

This two-part course helps skateboard educators become familiar with safer and effective ways to teach beginner skateboarders in a way that promotes confidence.

Part I:

  1. Learning experience & creating positive connections
  2. Focused understanding for beginner skateboarders
  3. Science of fun
  4. Best learning environment
  5. Lesson delivery
  6. Injury awareness

Part II:

In the second part of this course, you will learn the progression basics through a video tutorial led by a USSEA trainer.


At the end of this course, you will have a clear picture of effective skateboard education and are ready to put what you’ve learned to practice!

Coaching Certification Exam Course

The Educator Exam course is an in-depth and interactive resource for our Educator Members. Completion of this course means you are committed to improving skateboard coaching and education practices.  

The course is available to USSEA Educator Members only and is a prerequisite for Certification. 

During this course, you will be quizzed in preparation for a final exam and provided with abundant amounts of valuable information.

You must pass the final exam with a score of at least 85% to be eligible for Level I Certification.

Obtaining this certification will: 

  • Increase your coaching credibility in the action sports industry
  • Provides instructors with more opportunities to teach
  • Make you eligible for the Level II Certification (in-person exam)

*Level I Certificate costs an additional $50
